National Accounts
The Ministry of Economy and Trade and under the supervision of a national steering committee was entrusted back in April 2002 to calculate the national accounts series for the 1997-2002 period. The Ministry established a technical committee grouping in-house experts as well as from other public institutions and signed a memorandum of understanding with the French Statistics and Economic Institute (INSEE) to assist the technical team in its endeavors.
In May 2003, the Ministry published the base year accounts (1997) and launched a number of activities and surveys to complete the series in due time. In 30 September 2005, the Ministry has published the 1998-2002 national accounts series which was compiled according to international norms.
