Minister Raed Khoury Activities today

Minister of Economy and Trade Raed Khoury welcomed this morning a Chinese economic delegation presided by the Head of Nichan county, Wang Heichan, in the presence of the Director General, Alia Abbas. Discussions considered ways to develop and promote the economic ties between Lebanon and China.
Heichan lauded Lebanons reputation within the financial and commercial fields as well as the importance of tourism cooperation between China and Lebanon through exhibitions held in the region. In this context, he expressed his countrys interest to cooperate with the Silk Road countries, considering Nichan a platform for Arabic cooperation. He is also looking ahead to develop the cooperation to be reflected into real projects according to the available capacities of the two countries stressing on the cooperation with Ministry of Economy and Trade and to promote Lebanons features in tourism, culture and trade sectors.
For his part, Minister of Economy and Trade Raed Khoury pointed out that Lebanon currently enjoys political and security stability and is preparing for the period of Syria  reconstruction, especially that the necessary technical potential is available in Lebanon. The Minister also stressed on the importance of the economic cooperation with China in the upcoming period, noting that Lebanon  geographical location enables it to play an important economic role in the Middle East.
In this regard, he emphasized on the necessity to enhance the exchange of trade and experience between both countries.
At noon, Minister Khoury chaired the meeting of the Management Committee of the Lebanese Recovery Fund in presence of UN representative, Philippe Lazzarini, representatives of the donor countries and the Lebanese government. Discussions considered the results of the review that the fund undertook during previous years whereof they agreed to follow up the work and take future steps for the benefit of the economic growth in Lebanon and the creation of new job opportunities.
