Improving the business environment for citizens and companies
In the pursuit of the Ministry of Economy and Trade to achieve modernization and reforms, I am pleased to announce the launching of the request for proposals in order to automate the services of the Intellectual Property Protection Unit at the Ministry, which encompasses around 26 various services in the field of trade marks, patents, copyrights, industrial designs and others.
To this end, this initiative complements the automation project at the Ministry of Economy and Trade , especially after completing around 24 other services till this date. Once this stage is finalized, we expect that the General Directorate of Economy and Trade (headed by Dr. Mohamad Abou Haidar)will be fully automated before the end of the first half of 2026, thus constituting a real core for the e-government in Lebanon.
Moreover, this project, supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), comes within the Ministry’s vision to achieve series of main goals such as:
- Improving the business environment for citizens and companies
- Expediting the procedures and reducing time
- Enhancing the public administration’ efficiency
- Emphasizing the transparency in government work
In addition, this action constitutes a significant part of digital transformation that we strive to achieve in Lebanon. It also contributes in protecting the innovation and invention in various fields.
