Following up on the structural challenges and difficulties facing the potato farmers, like the rest of the Lebanese farmers, Minister of Economy and Trade Dr. Amer Bisat held a meeting with Akkar farmers and Member of Parliament Jimmy Jabbour to discuss the urgent need to elaborate a long-term strategy balancing between the farmers’ requirements, the consumers’ interests and Lebanon’ commitments in the field of international trade.
It was also agreed to enhance the control and supervision over the domestic trade’ movement of agricultural products. To conclude, practical procedures that can be implemented by the Ministry were outlined in order to open export markets for the Lebanese agricultural products and provide necessary support for technical assistance in the field of export promotion.
