As part of strengthening the control and enhancing the principles of governance and transparency in the Lebanese insurance sector, Minister of Economy and Trade, Dr. Amer Bisat declares the appointment of Mr. Nadim Haddad as the Head of the Insurance Control Commission following a vacancy for more than ten consecutive years and the appointment of Messrs. Yehia Tabboula and Jad Jaber as observers members in the Commission; thus for the first time since 2008, during the Council of Ministers’ meeting held on June 16^th, 2025.

To this end, this appointment constitutes a crucial action in the journey of reforming the insurance sector in Lebanon. It also aims to enhance transparency and boost confidence in this vital sector as well as to ensure the performance safety to the interest of the national economy.

Minister Bisat asserted that these appointments are part of his commitment to enhance the role of the regulatory bodies in line with the social and economic developments as well as to guarantee the protection of the ensured’ rights and upgrade the level of the insurance companies in Lebanon. In this regard, the Commission’s head and members were appointed based upon the highest standards of competency and technical expertise in addition to the commitment to the integrity and transparency in the workplace. 

In the same context, Minister Bisat announced the reconstitution of the National Security Council after being absent for more than five years, as a new reform action aiming to reactivate the work within the institutions and get the insurance sector back on course.

Furthermore, His Excellency expresses his complete confidence in the capacity of the new Commission and the National Security Council to assume their responsibilities to the fullest. He also reaffirms his continuous commitment to support all the initiatives aiming to develop the insurance system, calling all the sector’ partners for constructive cooperation to the interest of the nation and the citizen.
